Sun Damage

About Sun Damage

Excessive exposure to harmful UV rays can increase the risk of sun damage. The immediate risk of excessive sun exposure is sunburn, but other risks include skin that is dry, discolored, wrinkled, leathery, and more likely to bruise because it has been weakened.

To reduce the risk of sun damage, it’s important to:

  • Wear sunscreen when outdoors

  • Avoid going outdoors between 10 am and 3 pm

  • Wear long sleeves and pants in the middle of the day

  • Wear sunglasses that filter UV light
