Laser Tattoo Removal

About Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser tattoo removal on woman’s back

Form MD Aesthetics offers laser tattoo removal for individuals who no longer want their tattoo, whether it’s due to a new job, lifestyle change, unpleasant memory, or just a change in your taste.

However, because permanent ink granules from professional tattoos are injected below the skin’s surface during application, removing a tattoo is a complex process. Laser tattoo removal typically requires a few sessions to remove the tattoo.

What to Expect

What to Expect

Laser tattoo removal and the number of necessary treatments will vary from patient to patient depending on their age, color, and the size and type of their tattoo. The effectiveness of the procedure will also depend on whether the tattoo was applied by an amateur or professional. Other factors impacting treatment technique include skin color and the depth of the tattoo pigment in the body. A single tattoo may require three to eight visits, while larger tattoos may need more. We encourage clients to schedule a consultation, during which a trained professional will evaluate the tattoo and discuss treatment expectations.

How it Works

Laser beams deliver concentrated bursts of energy to heat up the ink beneath the skin and break the ink into smaller particles.
Removal of multi-colored tattoos might require multiple lasers operating at different frequencies.
The body then naturally eliminates those smaller ink particles through the immune system.
Smaller tattoos will require fewer pulses than larger ones.
In either case, a single tattoo will require several treatments and multiple visits.
The tattoo should become lighter after each treatment.

Treatment Steps

Eye Protection

The client and laser professional will wear protective eye shields.

Testing

The laser professional will test the client’s skin’s reaction to the laser to determine the most effective energy for treatment.

Administering Laser

The laser professional will place a handpiece against the surface of the skin and repeatedly activate the laser light over the surface of the tattoo to break up the ink.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will laser treatment completely remove a tattoo?
In some cases, the tattoo may not be completely removed. This is because some colors of tattoo dye resist laser removal, and some pigment is so deep it can’t be reached with modern lasers. On the other hand, some colors are easier to remove, such as blue and black because they are better at absorbing light.
Is laser tattoo removal painful?
Sensitivity to laser tattoo removal will vary. Some individuals say the procedure feels like getting a tattoo, while others liken it to a rubber band being snapped against the skin. Some individuals may prefer to use a form of anesthesia, such as a topical cream or local injection, depending on the location of the tattoo and their ability to tolerate pain.
What is recovery like?
Immediately after treatment, the laser professional will apply an ice pack to the treated area. At home, the client will need to apply a topical antibiotic cream or ointment and use a bandage or a patch to protect the site.
