How it Works

Juvéderm Voluma XC works by placing a smooth, long-lasting gel deep into the tissue that functions like a natural, youthful fat pad over the bony facial structures. The filler also attracts moisture to the area, improving volume and lift.
What To Expect
Prior to treatment, the provider will remove all makeup and prep the skin with a topical antiseptic to prevent bacterial infection.
Although individuals may experience some discomfort during and after injection, the Juvéderm Voluma XC injectable gel contains lidocaine (an anesthetic) to reduce pain at the injection site.
The individual’s skin may be numbed topically with a cream to further minimize discomfort.
Treatment results are immediate and Juvéderm Voluma XC can last up to two years.
Individuals will need touch-up injections to maintain optimal correction because the filler is naturally broken down by the body over time.

Am I a candidate?
The filler is available to adults seeking to improve their appearance. However, treatment is not recommended for individuals who have severe allergies with a history of anaphylaxis, multiple severe allergies, or a history of allergies to lidocaine or Gram-positive bacterial proteins.
What can I expect after treatment?
After the treatment, individuals should avoid strenuous exercise, extensive sun or heat exposure, and alcoholic beverages for 24 hours. This is necessary to prevent temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection sites. An ice pack should be placed over any swollen areas to minimize swelling.
Are there side effects?
Temporary side effects (which resolve within seven days) may include redness, bruising, swelling, pain, tenderness, firmness, itching, lumps/bumps, and discoloration.
